It’s the festive season and everyone’s out to impress. And nowhere can give you a better chance to feast in style than in Mayfair’s favourite Chor Bizarre, in celebratory mood to mark their 10th year and boasting a new a la carte menu and wine list to dine for.
Chor Bizarre is the only restaurant outside the Kashmir Valley that has access to the secrets of the 'Wazwan' – the legendary ceremonial feast of 36 courses. As part of their birthday celebrations, special tasting menus have been introduced, such as the 'Tiffins' and 'Thalis' (including a Kashmiri Tarami) and a sampling of dishes from various parts of India with each dish matched with two wines by acclaimed wine expert Charles Metcalfe.
The Maharaja Thali is matched with four half glasses of wine; the starter, Gazab ka Tikka, is matched with a Yalumba Riesling, followed by the Santa Rita Sauvignon with Roghan Josh, a Yalumba Chardonnay with Sharabi Kababi Tikka and Nautilus Sauvignon with Dal Makhni. The Thali with four wines is priced at £48 or with just one glass of wine that goes well with all the dishes, at £30.
On the à la carte menu, we’re loving the Dakshni Crabcakes – white crab meat flavoured with South Indian spices served with coconut chutney, and the delectable Shehnai Gosht - Lamb shank on the bone, pot roasted with cardamom mace and fragrant herb sauce.
Crack open a recommended bottle to match your tasty treats and you have yourself a party!
