TABLE THEMES FOR WINTER
Warm ideas for the colder seasons…

RAJASTHANI
Rajasthani colours consist of reds, golds and oranges – perfect for any traditional Indian wedding. Think vibrant red dahlias and exotic orange freesia flowers for your centrepiece, with tiny Rajasthani trinkets placed around them. But don’t overcrowd things. If your plates and centerpiece are the main features of the table, keep your wine glasses simple. Tinted glass plates add the flamboyance required to capture the Rajasthani theme. Instead of having napkin holders, why not decorate your serviettes with an orange freesia flower?
TROPICAL
Taken from a tradition used mainly in South India, why not swap the traditional feast of round plates with banana leaves? Jazz up plain old wine glasses with tropical fruit swizzle sticks and cocktail umbrellas with a slice of lemon and lime. To complement the tropical theme, the cutlery should be of bamboo or wood and not silver. Even if your guests will most likely eat with their hands to stay true to the tradition of the banana leaf, cutlery wrapped in pretty leaves does wonders for the overall look of the setting.
MOROCCAN
For Moroccan, go for lashings of gold, reds and more gold. The floral centrepiece should incorporate exotic flowers of celocia in orange and fucshia pink, viburnum in lime green, leucanthemum and hydrangea in blue. To add a dash of gold to the cutlery, wrapping the base in gold ribbons creates an opulent setting. Moroccans don’t believe in simple glasswear, so swap the traditional clear crystal variety for wine glasses tinted red and gold. Place them on top of mosaic coasters and the air of majesty is set.
