Aussie actor to visit the Kumars
Anyone who’s missing their comedy fix of watching celebrities being grilled by an elderly woman, in the chat show that changed the face of British entertainment, will be pleased to know that The Kumars at No. 42 will be returning to our screens later this year.
Created by Sanjeev Bhaskar and starring his wife Meera Syal, the original British series, a spin off of Goodness Gracious Me was first screened on the BBC in 2001 but has since moved to Sky 1 where the new episodes will be aired.
The show, a combination of a chat show and comedy sketches, focuses on the Kumar family, who turn their living room into a television studio.
uests confirmed for the new series include Australian hunk and star of Les Miserables Hugh Jackman. He is reported to have shot a couple of sketches on his days off from filming the Oscar winning musical, one of which involves a trampoline.
Several adaptations of The Kumars have been made abroad, based on the same format including Greeks on the Roof in Australia, The Ortegas on Fox in the US, Ghaffar at Doraji in Pakistan and Batiwalla House No 43 in India.
