Manish Malhotra celebrates family legacy through Mijwan collection
India's most prolific designer, Manish Malhotra wows once again at the Mijwan Fashion Show, which was put together to celebrate the honoroable NGO of Mijwan Welfare Society. The couturier has been supporting the endeavour for the last four years, by creating employment opportunities for women in impoverished areas around India, opening multiple sewing and embroidery centres where women can earn a dignified living. This initiative was inaugurated by late Kaifi Azmi, father of legendary actress Shabana Azmi, and due to this worthy and lasting legacy, as well as his own efforts towards this great cause, the fashion guru invited the most high profile Bollywood families to walk the ramp at the Mijwan Fashion show, to represent two generations, and the passing on of a legacy, in honour of the Azmi's.
Amongst the mighty dynasties were of course the Bachchans, with a curiously missing Aishwarya Rai, who was apparently shooting for her latest film Jazbaa, along with Anil and Sonam Kapoor, Shatrugan and Sonakshi Sinha, Javed and Farhan Akhtar. Although there is an array of famous families to choose from, surprisingly Manish's favourite Kapoors were nowhere to be seen.
As for his stunning assemblage, flowing elegant lenghas were witnessed, along with traditional chikankari designs with a contemporary edge, in hues of mostly ivories, blues and golds. Menswear also took on an authentic look, with draping salwars, white kameezes and grand chaddhars.
