Meet seven year-old Amani, the youngest British Asian girl to be short-listed for a beauty pageant
If you’ve entered our inaugural Miss Asiana Beauty Pageant, you’ll probably be able to empathise with the nerves and excitement facing Amani Hossain, (7) from Cardiff who has been selected to compete at the regional heat of Miss Mini: The Face Of The Globe Wales in July.
The Welsh child beauty queen who enjoys singing and dancing and holds all the attributes of a future Bollywood star is described by her mum Riya as a ‘natural.’ She enthuses: ‘ She doesn’t need to prepare, she has a natural walk and loves challenges.’
Amani who admits she actually wants to be a teacher when she grows up believes her motivation to succeed comes from her role models. She defines her own success by: ‘helping the poor people around the world like Chico Silmani, the 2012 Dancing On Ice finalist and X Factor participant’. Her own assets include her friendly and caring nature and also the fact that charity is high up on her agenda.
A week before the pageant Amani is organising a Princess Ball to raise funds for Rainbow Child Foundation Charity which will include sweet stalls, ice-cream stands and princess hair & make-up makeovers.
The contest has four categories for children ranging from five years and upwards and Amani will be in the mini category from which five girls will be selected. If successful she will get to join her favorite Princess in Disneyland Paris where she’ll compete with girls from all over the world. Although she has her heart set on the prize, she’s also happy just to be taking part. She says ‘It doesn’t matter if I win or loose I’m going to make friends at the pageant and have fun.'
