Bollywood Rocks Old Trafford

Coronation Street stars wear Raishma Couture at charity event

Bollywood appears to be all the rage, as actress Denise Welch brought the flamboyance of Indian culture in all its glory to Old Trafford in Manchester. The extravagant affair was a charity ball which Denise organises every year, featuring top names from British television - all decked out from head to toe in traditional Indian attire, most of them courtesy of renowned designer Raishma. Denise made a grand entrance in true filmi style on white horseback, wearing a vibrant Raishma Couture ensemble, with bling chandelier earrings to match. Fellow actress Shobna Gulati stunned in a sparkling cream and gold fishtail outfit, also by Raishma Couture, encrusted with diamante and gem embellishments.

Although the ladies outshone the men with their bejewelled presence, even their male counterparts made an impressive effort by sporting authentic two piece sherwani's and shalwar kameez. All proceeds from the event will go towards Rochdale Charity, The Gem Appeal as well as Sharanalayam children's orphanage in India. This charity will be the first time recipient of funds from the annual event, which perhaps prompted Denise to adopt Bollywood as a relevant tone to the evening. Along with raising money for a good cause, Denise's choice of theme indicates Indian glamour is becoming more distinctive and loved by all.
