Did you jump at the chance of working alongside John Abraham in ‘Force?’
I’ve always known John and yes he is an absolute heart throb but also a really nice guy, which makes it all the more better. I love the fact that he is a good looking guy with class, dignity and intelligence. John and I make an interesting pair, not the conventional or cute one.
You initially didn’t want to take up acting. Would you say this was the best decision of your life?
It wasn’t a career option but once I got into it I don’t know anything else. I always love learning more.
Would you say your character was a challenge?
I have to say that it was a memorable journey. I loved playing my character Maya and for me it was also a break in image to a large extent. Everyone is enjoying my new look and they will see a lot more maturity in me. People have called me cute but I’ve always figured that people think cute is clueless but it isn’t! My character is very close to the way I am as a person.
Were you hesitant about doing an action film?
No, it was extremely straightforward and for me it was a step out of the college girl routine and actually becoming a lady. People perceive me as a young girl, bratty and naughty but my character is perky, has cuteness to her but is a beautiful defined woman.

How much preparation went into your character?
A lot had to do with the look and how it was presented, that was one of the key concerns. I needed to look like a lady and dressed a lot more Indian and my character was mature and sensible and at the same time was totally in love with John, so I had to carry all of that off.
How did you resist John Abraham’s physique?
When you see them up close it’s totally fine and I have always said that it’s good to have John Abraham as girls don’t have to do the stripping! There was one scene where John flexed his biceps while singing and I had to stand behind him but he ended up hiding my face because they were so big!
There are some hot steamy scenes in the film!
I was comfortable with it as the beauty of it was not sexy. A lot of it had to do with the love between both characters, so shooting that scene was important.
Why is there controversy around a scene where you and John had to tie the knot?
It’s a very silly one and makes no sense. Whoever got it out there did a really stupid thing. It’s a normal scene.
Force is out in cinemas on 30th September 2011.
