This Eid be different. Instead of forwarding a text message or filling your friend’s inboxes with yet another email, show how much you really care about them by sending a greeting card.

After all nothing is more exciting than receiving an envelope with your name on that isn’t a bill!

Luxury stationery and card company Ananya specialise in creative cards for festivals including Jewish New Year, Diwali and Eid.
The company is owned by Vaishali Shah who began the business in 2006. All cards are designed by her and her team and have an exotic touch. Vaishali explains: ‘We draw inspiration from historic manuscripts, tapestries and artefacts to make sure each design is authentic. We also change designs every year so you can always find something for the occasion.’

As well as a ready-made range of cards, you can order Ananya’s cards customised, to give them even more of a personalised touch. Vaishali reveals: ‘One of the popular choices is to have your card hand-finished with crystals and diamontes for a sparkling finish. It adds texture and charm to the cards and everyone likes a touch of flamboyance!’

Fans of the Eid range include entrepreneur Saira Khan, who recently recommended them to her Twitter followers.

Cultural cards have become easier to get hold over the last few years and are available on the high street, even in places you may not expect them. For the first time ever, you’ll find Ananya’s Eid card collection in children’s shop Toys ‘R’ Us. Vaishali explains: ‘Retailers are realising the importance of promoting different cultures. Toy ‘R’ Us approached us as they realised it would be nice  for children to be able to send their family, like grandparents, cards.’

As well as looking lovely, each card has a description on the back, explaining the meaning of Eid making them suitable for non-Muslims to get an understanding about the celebration before sending them to their friends.

All of Ananya’s cards are environmentally friendly too. Vaishali assures: ‘We print on eco-friendly metallic card, sourced from sustainably managed forests – this aspect of our business is really important to me.’

Ananya’s Eid cards cost £1.95 and are available to buy in Toys ‘R’ Us or online at
