Akshay Kumar returns to the big screen with a punch (or two..)
He was the original '90s action hero giving us jaw-dropping, stunt performances in movies like the Khiladi series (1992-1997) and Elaan, but in recent years Akshay Kumar has traded in fight scenes for slapstick comic timing. Super hits like Singh is King (2008) and Housefull (2010) have kept him at the top of the A'List, ensuring he remains one of the highest paid actors in Bollywood.
So it may come as a surprise to hear that after seven years Akshay is back in action, starring in his first action movie for almost a decade.
Directed by choreographer-turned-director Prabhu Deva, (best known putting Salman Khan back on the map with the film Wanted), Rowdy Rathore is a tale of mystery, deception and revenge with Akshay playing a dual role of twin brothers; one who is a small-time thief, and the other a police officer. The film also sees the return of Sonakshi Sinha who shot to fame in Dabangg in 2010. Critics and fans will be watching closely to see if both live up to the expectations - can Akshay still put up a good fight? Will Sonakshi continue to shine is her second role?
Answers will be revealed on June 1st 2012, when the film gets its international release.
