SEPIA EYES
Rustic toned eyeshadow replaced the black and navy hues usually seen at this time of year. ‘It’s early 90s Kate Moss… all about fresh skin and a reddish brown, gorgeous eye,’ says make-up artist Diane Kendal. This neutral colour palette is extremely wearable by all skin tones. Get the look by blending together shades of sepia and deep brown shadow. Then line the inner rims with a brown kohl to toughen up the eye and keep the lips matte and pale.

THE THEATRICAL EYE
Graphic, cat-like eyes created with liquid liner were seen all over the runways this season. This look is a unique new take on the classic 60s style flicks seen on the likes of Sharmila Tagore and Twiggy. The modern lined eye is distressed and defined. To create the look, layer on a liner on the upper and lower lash line. For a modern, unexpected twist bring out a flick at the lower lash line.

THE MOODY LIP
Designers such as Missoni, Proenza Schouler and Peter Som all championed the dark lip for their A/W 10 shows. Aubergine, raisin and port hues were patted on the lips to create a statement. The key to keeping this look modern is to keep the skin looking fresh – with layers of moisturiser, a touch of foundation where necessary and a whisper of blusher. A strong lip can look more edgy without any mascara, but if you can’t do without it, try a slick of brown instead of black.
