When it comes to beauty products skin therapist Nataliya Robinson prefers to keep them fresh and organic
It is believed that over 60% of what we typically put on our skin is digested into our bodies. If we are what we eat, then we are equally what we apply to our skin. Therefore we need to be careful of what use steering clear of cosmetics and products loaded with harmful chemicals involved. Using plant-based ingredients as an alternative doesn't mean that glowing radiant skin needs to be compromised, in fact quite the opposite. The effects of using natural fresh ingredients can be immediate, work out to be cheaper and are more ethical.
The benefits of a natural organic raw facial
Nataliya Robinson's signature Natural Organic Raw Facial is one that literally uses food items - the finest, raw, organic ingredients she can source including yoghurt and fruits. Every treatment is carried out bespoke following a brief consultation so Nataliya can assess what ingredients will work for your skin type; for some skin types she prescribes applying the pulp of a fresh peach, while for others, a mashed up avocado may be more suitable. These facials are good for all but especially those who need to be more cautious such as mothers-to-be and those who are breast-feeding and those who are under going cancer treatment when chemical based products should particularly be avoided.
Nataliya’s expert tips
These suggestions are based on Nataliya’s own signature facial, carried out inside her boutique salon in Knightsbridge, West London.
1. Cleansing Start
Nataliya starts by massaging olive oil into the face which cleanses the skin without stripping it of its protective layer. It is then wiped off with a warm flannel.
She then makes a scrub to remove the dead skin cells from your face. The main ingredient is oats, known for their hypoallergenic, moisturising and exfoliating properties. Oats also contain amino acids - ideal for repairing damaged skin.
How to prepare it yourself:
Measure out 2 teaspoons of oats. Mix in 1 tablespoon of baking soda. Split open 1 tea bag (rose hip or green tea) and add to the mixture. Finally, add aloe Vera gel and a little water. Mix all these ingredients until they form a paste. Gently massage this paste onto your face. Rinse off with warm water.
3. Cucumber toner
Cucumber is a natural skin cleanser, which refreshes and tightens the skin. Cut some cucumber slices and apply them directly to your face by using them like cotton wipes. Leave your face to dry naturally.
A raw mask then helps nourish, heal, soothe and moisturise the skin.
Try it yourself:
1/2 Ripe Organic Avocado
1/4 Cup Raw Organic Honey
Add a few drops of freshly squeezed lemon juice (if skin is oily) or add 1 egg yolk (if skin is dry).
Mix to form a paste. Apply this mixture onto the face and leave it for 15-20 mins. Then rinse off with water.
5. In addition a facial cosmetic acupuncture treatment follows the mask application. This painless process uses natural procedures to effectively relieve muscle tension, soften fine lines and provide a natural lifting effect. It can also help reduce the signs of ageing by revitalising the skin.
To finish a further massage is given with coconut oil; a renowned moisturiser, antibiotic, multivitamin, anti-ageing, and anti-oxidant all-in-one.
Our verdict? Skin was left soft, clear and looking gorgeous and all because of some humble ingredients you probably have at home in your fridge! Amazing!
Nataliya's natural facial treatments take approximately and hour.
