Stand out from the crowd this spring with these effervescent looks inspired by this season’s catwalks
Go with the glow:
This season, the models’ skin glowed like they had spent a day stranded on a desert. To achieve the look, equip yourself with a bronzer that is the same tone as your skin – this will avoid the dated orange-effect of past seasons. Keep the lids neutral with earthy shades and coat the inner rims with black kohl for a sultry finish. Keep the lips looking innocent with the help of a toffee-toned lipstick.
The purple pout:
The predictable coral and pink lipstick shades were spotted all over this season’s catwalks, but the bold violet lip seen on models at Vena Cava turned the most heads. For maximum impact, work a strong lip with little else – skin should be kept fresh and youthful with a tinted moisturiser that enhances rather than just sits on it like a foundation. Brush the lashes with a single sweep of the mascara wand and apply blusher only if you need it. We heard that at the Vena Cava show make-up artist Lloyd Simmonds blended together Mac Pro Lipmix in white, burgundy, blue and red to create the opaque lilac pout seen on the catwalks of summer.
As seen at Moschino Cheap & Chic and Burberry Prorsum, candy colours were one of the most beautiful make-up trends to appear out of this season’s catwalks. Yes, they are soft and feminine but, according to leading make-up artists, they can be a lot sexier than you think. The beauty of the pastel palette lies in its versatility – all skin tones can carry off the colours. To avoid looking Barbie-like – don’t go for matching hues all over the face. Instead, choose matte chalky finishes and combine them in clashing colours over the eyes and lips – as seen on our model Neha.
