Get the ultimate Summer look with Trusha’s Tropical Eyes guide…

Posted: 08.06.16

Summer is finally here so we can finally embrace bright and vibrant colours. I love this look, which is all about tropical hues like green, lilac and blue on the eyes, which is perfect for the season and is very inspired by high-fashion, as these looks have been witnessed on this season’s catwalks. Here’s your guide by Trusha of Secret Style File blog to recreating these summer images, so you can make an impression at all the summer soirees you’ll be attending…

The Base
I always say that with all make-up looks the base is always important, it is essential to use a good primer that minimises pores and creates a silky canvas for make-up application. For this look I used the Smashbox Photo finish Primer, it feels so lightweight and creates a lovely canvas for make-up application. For a nice lightweight but flawless look which still looks so natural and has a watery consistency I then used the MAC Face and Body Foundation.

Contouring and Highlight

The Eyes
As always, priming the eyes is a must and I love the matte base the MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre gives. For this looks I am using the new Urban Decay Gwen Steffani palette and for the blending shade in the crease I used the shade 1987. I then used the lilac shade from the NARS Parallel Universe duo with a fluffy brush all over my eyelid and tapping into the crease. After this I went back in with the blending brush from the matte brown eyeshadow just to neaten up the crease. I then used a pencil brush and the shade Peace from Urban Decay and lined along my lash line, blending as I go along to give a gorgeous blue line. I also used the same shade along my lower lash line. To give my eyes some subtle definition I used a brown eye pencil in my waterline and I then used the shade Skimp to highlight my browbone.

Using the tip of the Black Magic Pen from Eyeko I created some extra definition to darken my lash route along the top of my eyes.

To highlight and conceal under my eyes I used the Urban Decay Nakedskin concealer with a mini beauty blender as it is super lightweight, to avoid creasing I immediately used a regular beauty blender and applied powder straight to the area I just highlighted.

To finish off the eyes and give some false lash flutter I used the Smokey Extravagant Mascara by Make-up Forever

Set your Make-up
To take away excess shine and most importantly to set your make-up use a lightweight powder. I used the Smashbox Photo Finish Powder, you can just use this on your T-zone and anywhere you tend to get shiny.

Finishing Touches
For blush I used a cream blush first, the Smashbox L.A Lights Cheek and Lip Tint in Beverley Hills and then the Candy Blush by W7 cosmetics. For highlight I used the The Balm Mary-lou-maniser above my cheekbones. For my nude lips with a coral undertone I used Bridgette from the NARS Audacious Lips collection.

To set the entire look I used the NYX Matte Setting Spray all over my face.

Stay tuned for more make-up looks from my Colour Series and don’t forget to check out my Wedding guest tutorials..x
