Cakes A/W 2022

What’s your flavour?

Choosing a grand design for your wedding cake is only half the decision. Even though cake cutting is a ritual for photographs, your guests will be looking forward to eating it too, so delight their senses with aromas and tastes that leave them wanting more.

The wedding experts at Hitched.co.uk did some extensive research into the UK’s favourite wedding cake flavour and found that 84% of guests like traditional fruitcake. They prefer fresh fruit with strawberry and lemon cakes being firm favourites. The number one wedding cake flavour is classic vanilla, followed by chocolate and red velvet, but if you fancy something a little different, discuss options with your wedding cake supplier. It’s common to serve several tiers with different flavours to appeal to all palettes. We’ve also seen an emergence of desi flavours proving popular with brides; think masala chai sponge and rose and cardamom; someone put the kettle on!

Domestic Goddess

It’s not usual for a family member to bake your wedding cake so if an aunty offers to take on the role, treat them to some new baking accessories. We love the colourful new Great British Bake Off inspired range from Cath Kidston which features patterned mixing bowls, measuring spoons, dainty tea towels, gorgeous crockery, cake tins and a star baker apron.
